New Location: a Methodical Approach

This time, I’m trying to approach the design of the new location in a slightly more methodical way than before. In the hopes that it will make things easier and faster.

I’m also going to try to keep track of how that goes.

The first stage, technically, is concept-art and looking for references, but in this case it also includes a bit of worldbuilding.

So, my next several tasks are:

  • Finalize the recent history of the town of Shelisk and especially its citadel — that will affect the decor and design of the feasting hall.
  • Find references for the feasting hall. Also, figure out if it’s even called “the feasting hall” or something else.
  • Figure out the etiquette — Ivolga explained it to the princess, but not to me, so I still don’t even know if the guests get their own separate plates or eat from the common bowl or what.
  • Come up with the feast menu (and find reference images for it).
  • Decide on the number of guests.
  • Create some kind of concept art. Well, at least draw up a rough floor plan and find a couple of lighting references specifically.

I’d love to get this done over the next two weeks, but I’m not sure if that’s a realistic timeline yet. I’ll share the progress, though. Wish me luck!
